Successful Cleanup Operation in Caleta Bolfin
Together with the fishermen of AGREBUMAR, CRAMSA carried out this initiative that reaffirms the company’s commitment to protecting the coastal environment and promoting responsible practices for its care.
As part of its commitment to sustainability and community collaboration, CRAMSA, along with the Association of Divers, Shellfish Gatherers, and Related Branches of Caleta Coloso (AGREBUMAR), conducted a cleanup operation in Caleta Bolfin. This coastal area, where the guild carries out its activities, will also be the site for CRAMSA’s desalination project “Aguas Marítimas.”
The purpose of the activity was to keep the workspace of the fishermen clean, promoting better conditions for their activities.
During the event, the CRAMSA team joined the fishermen to tour and clean the area, collecting a significant amount of waste from both the beaches and nearby areas. The task was facilitated by the use of a dump truck and a backhoe.
“We have a strategic alliance with AGREBUMAR, and as part of it, we wanted to contribute to keeping this area as clean and sustainable as possible. Caleta Bolfin is the workplace of the fishermen and also a space that reflects the natural wealth of our region. With this action, we aim to protect the environment and also strengthen our relationship with our partners,” highlighted Hugo Lecaros, Corporate Affairs Manager of CRAMSA.
Members of AGREBUMAR appreciated the activity, noting that cleaning the environment not only benefits their daily tasks but also helps preserve an ecosystem vital for future generations.
“We plan to carry out this activity every year with the support of CRAMSA, and that is very good for us because it confirms the company’s commitment to us. The area is extensive, and the more participation and collaboration we have, the better,” said Eduardo Astudillo, AGREBUMAR member and part of the organizing Work Commission.
Jaime Saavedra, another guild member, emphasized the importance of keeping the area clean and well-maintained. “We are not the only users of the area, but we are the main ones interested in keeping this space free of garbage and pollution because it is where we work and coexist. We urge visitors to take care of the environment and manage their waste at home. We have daily surveillance of our management area, and unfortunately, we see that some people do not take responsibility for their garbage,” he stressed.
A Community Closing
To conclude the day, participants enjoyed a camaraderie lunch organized by AGREBUMAR and CRAMSA. This moment allowed for the sharing of experiences, strengthening the bonds between both organizations, and reflecting on the importance of continuing to collaborate on mutually and locally beneficial initiatives.
CRAMSA’s “Aguas Marítimas” project not only seeks to address the region’s water scarcity through desalination but also prioritizes working together with communities to generate a positive and sustainable impact.
