CRAMSA signed framework agreement for the territorial development of indigenous communities in Calama

New alliance strengthens the company’s Community Engagement and Sustainability Strategy.

A new alliance joins the work that CRAMSA carries out within the framework of its Community Engagement and Sustainability Strategy, this time, with the signing of a Framework Agreement with indigenous communities in Calama.

The milestone took place at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History of the Atacama Desert, where representatives and leaders from three communities in Calama met with company executives to finalize the Territorial Development Program.

“This milestone highlights the importance CRAMSA places on community engagement as a key factor for sustainable development, and marks a new stage of collaboration for the execution of initiatives that promote the development of territories in the patrimonial, cultural, and productive areas,” emphasized Peter Hatton, General Manager of CRAMSA.

The agreement involves the Yalquincha Lickan Ichai Paatcha Indigenous Community, Kamac Mayu Hijos de Yalquincha Indigenous Agricultural and Cultural Community, and the Chunchuri Poniente Farmers Association.

“This agreement comes at a very good time because it brings us closer to dreams of improvement that we have longed to fulfill as a community,” expressed Luis Ortiz, from the Lickan Ichai Paatcha indigenous community.

Meanwhile, Ana Plaza, president of the Kamac Mayu Hijos de Yalquincha indigenous community, expressed her satisfaction and confidence that the Agreement will mark the beginning of joint work for territorial development. “This is an alliance that arises from the shared interest of supporting the community, and as an organization, we will do everything in our power to achieve the success of this initiative,” she stated.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Chunchuri Poniente Farmers Association, Daniel Lorca, highlighted that this milestone “opens doors in many ways because it will help us strengthen our Association, improve our agricultural production, and provide a variety of other benefits that will allow us to advance in meeting the needs of our territory.”

The Framework Agreement is the result of CRAMSA’s ongoing work with these organizations as part of its early engagement, seeking long-term partnership opportunities, which also includes the implementation of a working group and the future realization of collaboration agreements for the development of initiatives.
