CRAMSA PARTICIPATES IN ONE OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST SUMMITS ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND DESALINATION.

In Seville, Spain, the International Desalination Association (IDA) Summit on Water and Climate Change took place, focusing on adapting to this phenomenon and addressing innovative solutions to combat water scarcity, improve long-term resilience, and ensure water security.

The global gathering aimed to gather the latest international expertise among some 350 representatives from various nations, including a delegation from CRAMSA comprised of Gustavo Contreras, Executive Vice President; Peter Hatton, General Manager; and Hugo Lecaros, Manager of Corporate Affairs.

These executives participated in the central discussions, focusing on analyzing strategies to ensure greater water availability through unconventional solutions like desalination, thereby securing future water safety.

“It is crucial to strongly promote the development of new water sources in the face of the challenges posed by climate change. This summit allowed us, once again, to engage with global leaders in desalination and reuse, highlighting Chile’s leadership in these fields regionally, which will be reinforced by our ‘Maritime Waters’ project,” expressed Hugo Lecaros, CRAMSA’s Manager of Corporate Affairs.

IDA Sevilla 2023 served as a call to action, centering on the impacts of climate change on one of Earth’s most precious resources: water.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, IDA holds consultative status recognized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is a member of the United Nations Special Framework for Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG). It is a non-profit organization promoting unconventional water resource solutions to counter water scarcity, improve long-term resilience and water security, and adapt to climate change.
