CRAMSA HIGHLIGHTS ADVANTAGES OF MULTIPURPOSE PLANTS AT WATER CONGRESS 2023

With over 300 attendees from 18 countries, the eleventh edition of Water Congress 2023, the International Congress on Water Management in Mining and Industrial Processes, took place.

CRAMSA was part of this initiative, where the General Manager, Peter Hatton, participated in the plenary session with the talk ‘Paradigm Shift Towards Multipurpose Plants,’ presenting the ‘Maritime Waters’ project.

The presentation aimed to address the importance of multi-efficient desalination plants for sustainable territorial development, showcasing CRAMSA’s commitment to the Antofagasta Region.

“Many projects have a single objective, but this multipurpose technique signifies an opportunity, a shared structure for the mining industry, agriculture, and people, ensuring water for all,” explained Hatton.

The executive also emphasized the social license as fundamental for the proper development of such plants. “Projects must be carried out in collaboration with communities, using proven and safe technology, conducting proactive fieldwork to build trust, and providing timely information transparently.”

The event held in Santiago, Chile, was organized by the Center for Water Resources for Agriculture and Mining, along with CRHIAM, SMI-ICE Chile, and Gecamin.

The congress featured over 90 presentations covering topics such as water resource characterization, water sources and supply security, efficient resource utilization, and responsible management.

Water Congress 2023 brought together authorities, the mining industry, and academia to develop initiatives contributing to the analysis of various scenarios and challenges related to water resources worldwide.
