ALADYR Congress 2024: CRAMSA Reinforces Its Commitment to the Future of Water
At the event, desalination and water reuse were highlighted as key tools to address the water and climate crisis, as well as the importance of the Water Positive movement for better water management.
At the 2024 ALADYR International Congress, CRAMSA consolidated its commitment to sustainable water management by actively participating in discussions about the future of water resources. During the event, the company engaged in workshops, talks, and dialogue tables, exchanging technological innovations and experiences on water efficiency.
“This congress allowed us to access the latest advances in desalination and water reuse technologies and confirmed the importance of these processes for the sustainable development of regions,” said Hugo Lecaros Fernández, Corporate Affairs Manager of CRAMSA.
Multipurpose Solutions
One of the most relevant topics of the meeting was the promotion of multipurpose solutions, a trend gaining momentum in Chile. In this context, Lecaros highlighted the value of projects such as CRAMSA’s “Maritime Waters,” an initiative aimed at supplying water to the mining industry, agriculture, and sanitary companies in the Antofagasta region.
“The congress emphasized the need to adapt our water solutions for various sectors with a sustainable approach that allows us to tackle water scarcity and the worsening climate challenges in the country,” Lecaros explained.
Additionally, the event discussed the implementation of incentives and benefits to promote the adoption of these technologies by companies, which experts believe are essential to mitigate the effects of the water crisis in Chile, fostering greater collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Water Positive
Another central concept addressed was Water Positive, which proposes that companies return more water to the environment than they consume through reduction, reuse, and restoration of water sources. This approach is already part of CRAMSA’s sustainability strategy, consolidating its leadership role in responsible water management.
“Bringing more suppliers into the Water Positive movement will not only optimize water use but also send a powerful message of genuine commitment to water efficiency,” Lecaros emphasized.
In this regard, ALADYR is exploring the integration of this strategy into the Climate Change Adaptation Plan, which would include tax incentives for companies maintaining a positive water balance through investments in reuse, desalination, and ecological restoration technologies.
The 2024 ALADYR Congress reaffirmed the importance of sustainable water management in the fight against climate change. “The challenges we face require a profound rethink of water management. The combination of innovative technologies, effective public policies, and strategic alliances can make a difference in advancing towards a secure and sustainable future,” concluded Hugo Lecaros.
