A new alliance: CRAMSA and AGREBUMAR sign collaboration agreement

With great satisfaction for the achievement attained, the signing of the Collaboration Agreement between CRAMSA and the Association of Divers, Harvesters and Related Activities of Caleta Coloso, AGREBUMAR, took place.

The agreement consolidates a long process of talks, collaboration and outreach between the managing company of “Aguas Marítimas” desalination project and the divers’ and shellfish harvesters’ guild responsible for the Benthic Resources Management and Exploitation Area of Bolfin Cove. Likewise, the agreement includes the “Bolfin Cove Productive Development Agreement”, which seeks to contribute to the development of productive activity in the area.

“It is fortunate for us to come to this point. After years of involvement and discussions, we came to an agreement to work together with CRAMSA. As an association we are happy because this opens many doors for us to achieve our goals, such as growing crops, improvement of products and monitoring the management area,” said Pablo López, president of AGREBUMAR.

In that same line, Pedro Tapia, a shellfish diver and member of the Negotiation Committee, a neutral and participatory working body for a transparent agreement, highlighted the signing of the agreement. “We are happy with what has been achieved. It was a long, often exhausting work, but it resulted in this agreement, which is what both parts were looking for, something beneficial for everyone,” he said.

For CRAMSA’s CEO, Peter Hatton, the agreement is the result of the company’s sustainability policies, where collaboration and joint work with the communities is essential. “We have been able to align interests after several years of collaboration, conversations and negotiations that have resulted in this framework agreement that seeks to coordinate our future activities, in addition to a long-term agreement for local production development. For CRAMSA this is a source of joy and pride to be able to partner today with this organisation of hard-working people, who after a decade managed to gain their management area in Bolfin cove, which we will help to protect and enhance,” he said.

The agreement is a new milestone in CRAMSA’s aim to contribute to the development of initiatives, projects, organisations and communities that are part of the area of influence of “Aguas Marítimas”, the most important desalination project in the country.
